Presets
A preset is a named, reusable bundle of recording settings — which audio sources to capture, whether to enhance with AI, and how sensitive voice-activity detection should be — that you configure once and pick with a single tap before recording. Cohearo ships three built-in presets (Microphone, Meeting, Personal Notes) that can be edited but not deleted; anything you create yourself can be freely deleted. The preset grid locks while a recording is active, so settings can't change out from under an in-progress capture.
Personal Notes is the fast-capture preset: no AI enhancement, no speaker labels, just recording.
AI Enhancement
Inside a preset's AI Enhancement tab, Enhance with AI is the master switch. Turning it on requires writing a custom prompt (e.g. "summarize as bullet points, fix grammar, keep the original language") — the app runs that prompt against the transcript once recording finishes. Audio is never sent for this: only the transcript text and your prompt leave the device, and only because you turned enhancement on for that preset.
A second toggle, Include cursor selection, appends whatever text is on your clipboard at the moment recording starts as extra context for the enhancer. Independently of enhancement, Enable Voice Labels turns on speaker diarization; with it on and the session running on-device, a Number of speakers selector lets you hint a fixed count (1–8) instead of relying on automatic detection.
Re-enhance lets you redo an existing transcript without re-recording: on a fully on-device session it reruns immediately with no extra dialog, while on a cloud-synced session you can pick a different preset, write a one-off instruction, or reuse the last one.
Live Chat Assistant
While a diarized recording is actively in progress, an Assistant panel lets you ask questions about the conversation as it's being captured — "what did we agree on pricing?", "summarize what's been said so far" — with answers grounded in the transcript so far. It's available only during a live, diarized session; it doesn't appear for finished recordings, and it isn't available in pure On-device sessions, since it needs the cloud path to run.
What it costs
AI enhancements are metered by plan: Free Personal includes 8 a month, resetting every month, and Professional includes hundreds of AI enhancements a month. Recording, transcription and diarization themselves are unlimited on every plan — the AI enhancement count is the only limit. Live Chat Assistant is included on Professional and above; it isn't offered on Free.
