Cohearo can't access my microphone
If microphone permission hasn't been granted, Cohearo shows a full-screen dialog with instructions specific to your OS, an Open Settings shortcut, and a Recheck button that detects once access has been granted and closes automatically. If a recording still isn't picking anything up, confirm the correct device is selected under Settings → Audio Devices and use its test control to check it's actually live before recording.
System audio isn't being captured
System audio capture is desktop-only (Windows, macOS, Linux) — there's no system-audio toggle on mobile. On desktop, confirm a system-audio device is selected under Settings → Audio Devices, "System Audio Devices," and use its test control to confirm it's live. At least one of microphone or system audio has to stay on for a desktop preset; turning both off isn't allowed.
The app won't start on Linux
Cohearo requires glibc 2.38 or newer. On an older release (Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, Debian 12, Linux Mint 21, Pop!_OS 22.04, RHEL/Rocky/Alma 9, openSUSE Leap 15, and similar), the .deb refuses to install rather than installing and failing, so you should see a clear error rather than a broken app. See Supported platforms for the full list.
The transcript is empty or looks wrong
A recording in a language outside Cohearo's 25 supported languages produces a poor transcript rather than an error — there's no reliable way to tell in advance other than checking the list. If nothing was transcribed at all, check that audio was actually captured: verify the correct device under Settings → Audio Devices, and confirm the waveform was showing activity while you were recording.
A recording isn't showing up in my dashboard
Sync only happens in Cloud mode. A recording made in On-device mode is never uploaded automatically, even if your account later switches to Cloud — see On-device vs Cloud. If you're in Cloud mode and a recording still isn't syncing, check your network connection; the on-device transcription and diarization don't need one, but the sync step does.
My AI client won't connect over MCP
For ChatGPT and Codex, install the official Cohearo plugin and connect your account. No server URL or Developer mode is needed. For the Claude custom connector, check the full connection address, including /mcp. If your assistant does not use Cohearo, check that the connection is enabled and explicitly select or mention Cohearo. Each guide covers connection troubleshooting.
